The All New 2009 Roadster
The 2009 porsche boxter is certainly one of the most exciting “Roadster” style vehicles to hit the market. Released at the LA Auto Show, Porsche claims the 2009 model to be a Second Generation model, unlike any vehicles that preceded it. This may be true for some aspects of the vehicle, but for features like the exterior for both the new 2009 and S models aren’t too different in appearance to other Porsche vehicles.
For the 2009 model, new front and rear ends have been added along with new lighting and air inlets on all four corners of the vehicle. Going on the market in early 2009, the vehicle comes with a base price of $57,650 for the Boxster S.
For this model year, Porsche seems to be headed in the same direction for design with both the boxster and Cayman model vehicles. For the boxster, these new additions in design will come at a price. Most consumers, however, will most likely to purchase the Mid-Engine and Convertible model, to collaborate looks along with satisfying performance.
Power And Performance
Inside of the 2009 model is much greater power and performance unlike previous models. The 2009 boxster comes with two separate engine choices. The boxster model comes with a 2.9 Liter engine, and for those gutsy car enthusiast is the S model, which packs a powerful 3.4 Liter engine. Although the S model comes with greater power, both have a performance boost over previous models.
In addition to greater horsepower with the 2009 model, Porsche designed each 2009 vehicle with a newly-designed and reformed direct injection system to Flat-6 style engines. Porsche claims that these new additions allow the new boxsters and all 2009 vehicles to come with a power increase, as well as fuel economy, over previous models.
The 2009 boxster is also capable of an impressive 31 miles per gallon. The boxster is capable of achieving this by it’s use of the Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) manual transmission, which was initially used for racing and has been re-designed for use in consumer-based vehicles.
In addition with the transmission comes an optional PDK system, with “launch” control, which gives the 2009 boxster the ability to accelerate to 100 Km/Hr 0.2 seconds faster than any other transmission tested with the 2009 model. Along with this is a seventh gear, which should greatly assist in increasing fuel economy on the highway.
